Shank Interview: Christian Martin and Simon Pearce

The South African Gay & Lesbian Film Festival, a.k.a. Out in Africa, has posted a video interview with Christian Martin and Simon Pearce, the co-screenwriter and director, respectively, of Shank, which has been getting raves worldwide even while being denied screenings in its U.K. home (a point they address in the interview).  The film revolves around the efforts of a gay hoodlum to hide his sexuality from his fellow gang members while trying to escape a life that includes brutalizing his own.  The interview covers the origins of the film, how its very young director (dude is, like, 21) got involved, and Martin’s hope to unsettle complacency with his work.
