A variety of (mostly capsule) reviews are applauding thriller/romcom Body/Antibody, in which an obsessive/compulsive agoraphobe falls for a neighbor with disastrous consequences. Marya Summers of the Broward Palm Beach New Times (scroll down) praises the film’s “clever dialogue” and “exquisite cast” with one exception:
“But the biggest error was using Debbie (who now calls herself Deborah) Gibson as the therapist in an otherwise perfectly cast film; her hokey performance makes her adolescent singing career look profound by comparison.”
Elizabeth Chorney-Booth at fast forward weekly (scroll down) calls it “one of the surprise gems of this year’s [2007 Calgary International Film] festival,” and Hour’s Dave Jaffer, who includes a brief interview with the writer/co-director Kerry Dye, describes the film as “quite compelling, especially visually.”
Body/Antibody arrives July 13th.
