Hurricane Season making its way to the top after almost five weeks of release.  In the meantime, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure looking to crack $50 million if the latest available numbers from, um, The Numbers are any indication.  At this point, you can pretty much close the book on who will win the top straight-to-DVD seller of 2009 award.  Second place will probably go to Santa Buddies‘ north of $30 million haul, although its Space Buddies compatriot may still beat it on units sold.

Hurricane Season debuts at number two on the chart.  The tale of a New Orleans high school basketball team dealing with the aftermath of Katrina stars Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henson, Courtney B. Vance, Isaiah Washington, Bow Wow, and Lil Wayne and was directed by Tim Story (Barbershop, Fantastic Four) and was written by Robert Eisele (The Great Debators).  With that kind of pedigree one might expect an awards season theatrical release, but apparently hard times at the Weinstein Co. took their toll.

Santa Buddies still tops of the sales charts.
