Hurricane Season debuts at number two on the chart.  The tale of a New Orleans high school basketball team dealing with the aftermath of Katrina stars Forest Whitaker, Taraji P. Henson, Courtney B. Vance, Isaiah Washington, Bow Wow, and Lil Wayne and was directed by Tim Story (Barbershop, Fantastic Four) and was written by Robert Eisele (The Great Debators).  With that kind of pedigree one might expect an awards season theatrical release, but apparently hard times at the Weinstein Co. took their toll.

Lil’ Wayne Upset By Release of Lil’ Wayne Doc

Cinematical reporting that Lil’ Wayne doc The Carter, which premiered at this year’s Sundance , is getting a straight-to-DVD release next Tuesday, in spite of its subject’s best efforts. Wayne attempted to block the film’s release, but a court has since denied that motion. Wayne is apparently the only one upset by the doc, which is getting raves on IMDb and from other sites that caught it at Sundance, including Cinematical.
