No real change from last week, except that Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure is now the top-grossing straight-to-DVD release of 2009. Flick is still in the top five sellers this week for DVD overall, having pulled in another $10 million to bring the kitty up to $34 million, easily besting Space Buddies, which thus far has only achieved a little under $29 million.
Battlestar just shy of $5 million now after dropping more than 50% from last week’s debut. After 3 weeks, Wrong Turn now stands at $3.5 million.

Top 10 Straight-to-DVD Rentals for Week Ending 11/8/09
(Source: IMDb – Video Business hasn’t posted yet, for some reason)
- The Tournament
- Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead
- The Maiden Heist
- Trick ‘r Treat
- Hardwired
- Lies & Illusions
- The Line
- Blood & Bone
Well, I guess this answers that question. The Tournament leading the charts with last week’s leader, The Maiden Heist, dropping to third place. Hardwired debuts right in the middle, giving the list a healthy dose of Cuba Gooding Jr. and Val Kilmer. Prior chart-toppers The Line and Blood & Bone hanging in at 7 and 8, respectively.

Tinker Bell 2nd Highest Grosser for 2009 After One Week

- Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure
- Battlestar Galactica: The Plan
- Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead
- Barbie and the Three Musketeers
Tinker Bell making a huge splash with a number one debut on the straight to DVD charts and a number two bow on the DVD charts overall, well behind Ice Age 3, which moved a million more units, but ahead of the second frame of Trans-freakin-formers! Tink sold almost 1.5 million copies for a first week haul of nearly $24 million. That puts it behind only Space Buddies (think Air Bud in space) for highest-grossing straight-to-DVD title of ’09 so far. Given that Buddies‘ run is pretty much over (it came out in February) and it currently rests at just under $29 million with just under 2 million units sold, both records are well within Tink’s reach.
Battlestar Galactica: The Plan opening strong in the number two slot (number seven overall) with $3 million in the kitty. That haul might explain the motivation behind a straight-to-DVD premiere vs. a premiere on SyFy (which won’t happen until 2010, I hear).
Wrong Turn 3 closing in on $3 million after a sharp sales drop in it’s second week of release. Barbie inching a little over $11.5 million after seven weeks in the mix.

- The Maiden Heist
- Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead
- Trick ‘r Treat
- Lies & Illusions
- Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure
- 2012: Supernova
- Stan Helsing
- Assassination of a High School President
- The Hills Run Red
- The Code
Morgan Freeman bookending this week’s rental chart. The Miaden Heist, also starring William H. Macy and Christopher Walken, taking the top spot and perennial charter The Code bringing up the rear.
Tinker Bell debuting a bit lower, right in the middle of the charts (don’t worry, it’s a much brighter picture on the sales charts, you don’t need to clap or anything).
Can’t imagine why a movie named 2012 would be popular right now. And yes, that would be The Asylum‘s take on Roland Emmerich.
Horror comedy Stan Helsing debuting right behind it, though I have to question its straight-to-DVD credentials as I’m pretty sure it had a limited theatrical release.

If Loving Wrong Turn 3 Is Wrong, Then the Charts Don’t Want to Be Right
Top Selling Straight-to-DVD Titles for Week Ending 10/25/09
Wrong Turn 3 busing out of the gate with a decent nearly-$2 million haul moving just over a hundred grand units. After six weeks Barbie adding another half-mil to the kitty to bring the total to just over $11 million. Bring It On hitting roughly the same number after 24 weeks. Maybe they should do a Barbie/Bring It On crossover. Is there a Cheerleader Barbie?

- Bring it On: Fight to the Finish
- It’s Alive
- Dark Country
Wrong Turn 3 debuting at number one to no one’s surprise, as it’s one of the most hotly anticipated horror titles of the year. The other most anticipated horror title slips to number two. The other debut, The Haunted Airman, gets some juice from its star, Robert Pattinson, who was still an unknown when he filmed this straight-to-British-TV-movie finally getting its US release. We’ll see if Pattinson’s other pre-Twilight release, How to Be,will make similar inroads when it launches later this month.

Wrong Turn 3 Review: Unrated for a Reason
October 5, 2009 by David Dylan Thomas

The third entry in the Wrong Turn series is only available as an unrated feature, and according to Video Business’ Cyril Pearl, with good reason. It’s gory. Really, really gory. Really.
That’s about all he has to say about it, actually. It’s a short review.
Wrong Turn 3 is available October 20th. You can pre-order it here.
Interviews: Wrong Turn 3 Director, Star

Retro Slashers has an interview with Wrong Turn 3 star Janet Montgomery, who also stars in The Hills Run Red. Meanwhile Bloody Disgusting chats with the diirector, Declan O’Brien, who talks about tweaking the beautiful-people-vs.-cannibal-hillbillies premise of the first two and throwing some escaped convicts into the mix.
They’re not even bothering with a rating for this one (as with part two) and, to look at the nasty trailer, that’s probably for the best.
Wrong Turn 3 drops October 20th. You can pre-order it here.
